Where you can paste cursive text

WhereWorks?Tip
Instagram bio and nameYesUse it for your name or one line of the bio, not all of it.
Instagram and TikTok captionsYesGreat for a first line or a title. Keep hashtags in normal letters.
TikTok bioYesShort phrases look best.
X posts and bioYesEach cursive letter counts as 2 of your 280 characters.
Facebook, Threads, BlueskyYesWorks in posts, comments and bios.
LinkedInYesUse sparingly; it can look unprofessional and is hard to read.
Discord, WhatsApp, MessagesYesFun for names and short messages.

How cursive text works

The generator doesnโ€™t change the font. Unicode, the standard every device uses for text, includes sets of letter-like symbols made for math, such as ๐’œ (script A) and ๐“ (bold script A). The generator swaps each normal letter for its look-alike. Because the result is still text, it survives copy and paste into apps that donโ€™t let you choose fonts.

The same trick gives the other styles: italic (๐ด), fancy old English (๐”„) and outline (๐”ธ). Numbers change only in the outline style (๐Ÿš๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿš๐Ÿž), since the other sets have no matching digits.

Things to know before you use it

Screen readers

Screen readers may read cursive letters one by one, by their symbol names, or skip them. For people who use them, a fully cursive caption can be hard to follow. Keep cursive to a name or a short headline and write the important part in normal text.

Apps search the actual characters, so a cursive word wonโ€™t match the normal word, and a hashtag in cursive wonโ€™t join the normal hashtag. Keep keywords and hashtags in plain letters.

Character limits

X counts every cursive letter as 2 characters, and many apps do the same. A 150-character bio fills up twice as fast. Our caption length checker shows the limit for each platform.

Using cursive in your posts

Cursive works best as an accent: the first line of a caption, a product name, or a quote. Write the caption once, add a cursive headline, and post it to every platform that fits.

If you manage social media for a brand or clients, PostMax lets you write a post once, change the words for each platform, and schedule it to Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky at once. Paste your cursive headline straight into the caption.

Frequently asked questions

How do I type in cursive on Instagram?

Instagram has no cursive font setting. Type your text into the cursive generator above, tap Copy next to the style you like, then paste it into your Instagram bio, name, caption or comment.

Is this a real cursive font?

No. The generator swaps each letter for a look-alike Unicode character, such as ๐’œ for A. Thatโ€™s why it pastes anywhere that takes text, with no font to install. How it looks depends on the fonts on the readerโ€™s phone or computer.

Why do some letters look different or show as boxes?

A few cursive letters (like โ„ฌ, โ„ฐ and โ„ฏ) come from an older Unicode block, so they can look slightly different from the rest. Boxes appear on old devices whose fonts donโ€™t include these characters. Most phones and computers from the last several years show them fine.

Does cursive text count as more characters?

Often, yes. Each cursive letter is stored as a special character, and X counts each one as 2 characters. The generator shows the X count for every style. Many other apps also count them as 2, so keep cursive for short names and headlines.

Does the cursive generator work for Russian or other alphabets?

Unicode only has cursive look-alikes for the Latin letters A to Z. Cyrillic, Greek and other letters stay as you typed them.

Can I make a cursive signature?

Yes. Type your name in the signature maker, pick a handwriting style and ink color, then download a PNG with a transparent background. It works well for email signatures and graphics. For signing legal documents, use the signature tool your document service provides.

Is the cursive generator free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up. Your text stays in your browser.
